Apple Iphone Uk Release Imminent - Is It Worth The Cash?
Category: CommunicationsFinally after months of anticipation the Apple iPhone will be hitting the UK shores in just a few short weeks.
Well after all the hype that the iPhone received from USA on its release, let’s take a look at some of the features we can expect and most of all whether it is going to be worth the £299 price that seems to be what Apple will be charging for this all singing, all dancing iphone.
Ok, here are some of the many, many features that you can expect on your new Apple iPhone.
The most revolutionary and probably most sought after feature is the multi-touch screen - no longer is there any need for a mechanical button on the phone. You can now use your fingers to operate the iPhone, no need for a stylus or a mechanical keyboard! All you have to do is to tap the screen with your finger tip, and you will get access to the menus, make calls, send text messages and even emails. How neat is that!
In the past touch screen use has caused lots of typing errors. Apple have even provided an automatic spell checker as well as the more standard word prediction, and a customizable dictionary so that you can add new words yourself. With the self-correction capabilities it looks as though Apple have made a huge effort to get this problem under control
All this aside the multi-touch screen has lots of other functions. For instance multi-touch sensing which can be used to magnify or reduce photos or web pages. You will be able to manipulate the sizes of some of the objects by merely putting two fingers at either side of the object and moving them closer together or further apart - what’s more the images won’t be distorted as they are resized and scaled depending on the original size of the object.
As you can see there are many great functions with the Apple iPhone, although there were some teething problems on it’s initial release, and some security issues were raised. Luckily the UK is a little behind other Countries and it would appear that these problems have been resolved in time for the release here in the in November.
One of the main drawbacks is the high price tag - £299 is a lot of cash for a mobile phone albeit a fancy mobile phone, and to be honest I would hesitate to buy this as a gift for someone or even myself due to the high price. To some extent this has been overcome with Apple awarding a contract to a leading service provider who will be offering this on a monthly tarrif.
So as as summary - quite expensive, but a good buy with a monthly contract perhaps?
